Myth of 120 degree view
Question
from customer: Your
competitor sells similar camera with 2.8mm lens and stated that their
camera viewing angle is 120 degree. How come your 2.8mm camera
has a much lower viewing angle?
Answer:
This is one of those misinformation which our
competitor never truly discloses to their customer. Here is the
fact.
Viewing angle can refer to
either of these angles shown in the diagram below.

1. Side to Side Viewing
Angle (Let's call it SS Angle) |
2. Corner to Corner
Viewing Angle (Let's call it CC Angle) |
For 2.8mm lens,
if it is PAL format, the CC
angle is approximately 120 degree, but the SS angle is approximately
110 degree. If you want to buy this PAL camera, simply click on

if it is NTSC format, the CC
angle is approximately 105 degree, but the SS angle is approximately 95
degree. If you want to buy this NTSC camera, simply click on this

So the next time when a seller
tells you that their 2.8mm camera can achieve a viewing angle of 120
degree, make sure you know what he is talking about.
